Hello,

My name is Jody, and I have created this short biography page so that people can get to know me a little better.

I am a library media specialist at Sauquoit Valley Elementary School in Central New York.  I have been teaching there since 1993.  I also run a bird club for fourth and fifth graders.  We meet every other week for two hours learning how to identify local birds and doing many hands on activities such as dissecting owl pellets.

I have a lovely wife and two young girls.  I am always trying to get them hooked to birdwatching.  They love to watch the birds at our feeders and record their sightings with stickers on a weekly chart.

I am active at my church, Cornerstone Community Church.  I lead a puppet troupe of teenagers that helps out with children's ministries.  Another hobby of mine is carving pumpkins.

In my spare time I like to go birdwatching and work on the KidWings web site.  Most of the pictures on this site were taken by me with a digital camera.  Most of the skulls were also prepared by me using Dermestid Beetles.  This is an odd but extremely fascinating hobby where one uses beetles to clean the flesh off of bones.  My goal for the KidWings bird club is to have virtual owl pellet dissections for most North American species of owls as well as other birds that make pellets, such as Herons, Cormorants, Hawks, and many more.  I also would like to have interactive activities that teach children the basics of ornithology (the study of birds).

Thank you for visiting.  If you would like to drop me a note, I can be reached at: falcon@kidwings.com.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Jody Hildreth
